Palm Springs International Airport

Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is a key air travel gateway in California. It is served by twelve airlines including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Alaska and Southwest airlines and United which provide nonstop flights to over 30 destinations. The airport partnered with AeroCloud in 2021 to support rising passenger numbers and, sure enough, broke its record for traffic welcoming more than 3.2 million passengers in 2023.

Challenge

With increasing passenger traffic, PSP found it was losing more and more manhours to gate assignments. It wanted to alleviate staff from manual processing to free up their time.

Solution

PSP turned to automation technology to solve the issue. It centralised and automated all gate operations through AeroCloud’s Gate Management System, a module of AeroCloud’s intelligent Airport Management System (iAMS). Now, PSP has a single source of truth for gate management that can be accessed by all relevant stakeholders through unlimited user licenses.

The modular approach of AeroCloud’s cloud-native platform means that PSP has also been able to deploy other solutions. It uses the Asset Management module to manage and track the status of all its airport assets, alongside required repair works and maintenance expenditures.

This module integrates seamlessly with AeroCloud’s Inspection Management tool, giving PSP a record of all airfield work requests and staff training, and providing a paper trail for auditors.

Outcome

Moving to AeroCloud’s cloud-based platform has enabled PSP to drastically reduce the amount of manual input needed from operations staff. The team saves a minimum of 45 hours each month that otherwise would have been lost to manual processing for gate allocation and management.

They can now redeploy this resource at other high priority operational needs.
